Doctor Who Theory

So, I was thinking and had a very interesting theory relating to Doctor Who and why Matt Smith would be the one carrying the torch. In the Ninth Doctor’s first episode, the man that Rose goes to talk to only has pictures of Nine. Every event in history that the doctor had been caught at was represented in the form of nine. What if (And hear me out on this) the general public can only see the most recent incarnation of the doctor, no matter what time in his life he went to that particular event. The companions, anyone who’s been in the TARDIS really, are the only ones who can see the different incarnations of the Doctor, because they’ve been through the Void? I mean…it’s a decent explanation. It would make sense, at least it does to me. Therefore, Eleven would be the one carrying the torch, not Ten. Anyone else think this makes sense in the whoniverse?
